Jerks

I was looking at universities today, and while I was bummed when I started my search that I would likely not be able to get into, or pay for, a private university, my immediate reaction to the private universities was revulsion.

All the private creative writing MFA programs are either snobby pedagogy-centered programs that apologize for not being an English MA (mostly at the conservative, bricks and ivy places) or they went in the other direction and opted out of dispensing grades, preferring “narrative evaluations” and holding discussions in “sun circles.”

hippies.

I am starting to like the idea of a public university. I am filled with a sense of pragmatic pride and egalitarian excitement.
