Pet peeve: people who have learned to label the garden variety anxiety we all experience throughout life as “panic attacks” or “nervous breakdowns.” This isn’t to say that some people at some times don’t experience acute expressions of anxiety to the detriment of their well-being. It is to say that experiencing the full range of human emotion isn’t something that needs pathologizing.
